State Championship Shoot

March 17-19, 2006

Location: Pine Valley Girl Scout Camp, Meansville, GA

Shooting Classes:

Mens’ and Women’s Senior, age 65 and above, Primitive, Modern Longbow & Modern Recurve
Men’s and Women’s Adult, age 16 to 64, Primitive, Modern Longbow & Modern Recurve
Youth, boys and girls combined, age 9-15, Primitive, Modern Longbow & Modern Recurve
Cubs, boys and girls combined, age 8 and under

Individual Senior or Adult; TBG Member, $20, nonmember, $25

Family Rates:
TBG member $20 (nonmember $25), 1st Youth in family-$5, all additional Youths-$3 each, Cubs FREE.
TBG member and spouse-$35 (nonmember and spouse $40), Youths and Cubs as above.

 Equipment Classes:

PRIMITIVE CLASS will include any bow made of wood, backed with, or constructed of laminates of any natural material.  No Fortisan, fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastics or phenolic laminates may be used in or on the bow.  The string may be of any material except modern stretchless fibers.  Dacron strings are allowed.  Arrows may be of wood, cane, bamboo, or other natural materials.  Feather fletching is required.

MODERN LONGBOW AND MODERN RECURVE CLASSES:  In addition to wood, bows in these classes may be made of any of the materials not acceptable for primitive class, and metal, such as a metal riser, or metal components of a take down system.  All arrows must be shot off the shelf.

MODERN RECURVE OPEN CLASS:  Bow construction materials are the same as above, and the bow may have an elevated rest, an adjustable pressure point or a cushion plunger device. 

In any modern bow class arrows may be made of wood or other natural materials, aluminum, fiberglass, and graphite/carbon.  Feather fletching is required.

Men’s arrows must weigh a minimum of 450 grains and a have points weighting at least 125 grains.  There is no minimum arrow weight for women or youths and points must weigh at least 100 grains.  There is no minimum weight for cubs’ arrows or points.

On-Site Registration will begin at 7:00 Saturday at the registration tent at the entrance to the Girl Scout Camp. credit cards cannot be accepted for preregistration or registration-- cash, check or money order only.

Directions:   Take I-75 South (from Atlanta) or North (from Macon), to the Jackson-Barnesville Exit, and take GA Hwy 36 West into Barnesville.  Go through the town to GA Hwy 18 West and follow it to the first paved road on the left after crossing Potato Creek--GA Hwy 109Follow Hwy 109 and turn left on Pine Valley Road which leads to the Girl Scout Camp.  Look for signs with “TBG Shoot Today” and directional arrows starting at the turn onto Hwy 18.

Shooting Schedule: There will be two, 20 target 3-D courses, both of which must be shot.  We will have a trickle start on Saturday from 8:00 until noon.  It will be a shotgun start on Sunday at 9:00.  There will be a Coon Shoot after dark on Friday and Saturday and an Ironman Shoot during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Vendors: Vendor participation is at no charge.  You will need to provide your own tables, canopies, etc.  There is limited electricity in the vendor area on a first come first served basis.  Plan to bring a generator if you need power.  Vendors may camp at their displays if space permits or in the general camping areas, at no charge.  Vendor setup time starts at noon on Friday.  To register as a vendor, please contact Jack Millet via fax at 770-319-5330 or jmillet@ci.smyrna.ga.us, or phone him at 770-319-5337 or 770-235-2325.

Camping: Camping is free, but there are no hookups or RV dump stations.  There are also group tents set up on platforms that are available on a first come first served basis. 

Meals: Hot meals will be available for purchase for lunch and dinner Saturday and for lunch on Sunday.

Hotel/Motel Availability: Nearby motels are located in Barnesville, Zebulon and Thomaston.  There will be a NASCAR race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway 30 miles from the shoot, so make your reservations early or plan to camp.
