How many times have you heard our
fellow TBG members telling about a great hunt that they have been on
and you say “I wish I had of known of a hunting opportunity like
that, I would have liked to have gone.”? Two years in a row I went
on a javelina hunt in Texas. After I got back from the second hunt
a friend of mine, Gus Eaker, asked if we were going back the next
year because he would like to join us. Well because of different
reasons such as work, family obligations, different interest, my
group hasn’t gone back to Texas. Gus is still waiting on me to go
javelina hunting again. I wonder how many other TBG members are
like Gus, waiting on one or two individuals to put together a hunt?
Although, there are a lot of TBG members who do get together and
hunt, I’m willing to bet that there are also a lot of TBG members
who would like to get together with other traditional bowhunters
with similar interest but don’t have the opportunity. Because of
this, I would like to start a service through TBG that will
facilitate common hunting interest of TBG members.
“How am I going to do this?” you ask.
“How is this going to work?” you ask. I’m glad you asked.
Basically, each TBG member sends me their information (hunting
needs/desires) then I will sort, merge and match members with
similar interest. Once matches have been made and a group is formed
then the group will be responsible for getting together and
executing a hunt.
What information do I need? Name,
phone number and details about what kind of hunting situation you
are interested in. The following are some hunting situations I
would expect to receive from you but your interest is certainly not
limited just to this list. The sky is the limit.

and emailed to kcolvin@ajc.com.
Also, share with me your
information about experiences (good and bad) with outfitters and pay
hunts that you have had so that other TBG members can benefit from
those experiences (i.e. Good experience with an Elk outfitter, what
was good about it? Bad experience with a Bear outfitter, what was
bad about it? What outfitter was it? Do you recommend or advise
against them?). If you did a “do it yourself” hunt share with us
the do’s and don’ts that you learned from your experience. Also,
there are a few hunting outfitters who may offer TBG members
discounts, if you know of any discount situations let me know about
those as well to pass along to our members.
The more participation in this program
the better. Even if you don’t have any particular hunting needs
share any information that may benefit other members in their effort
to hunt more with their traditional bows. Feel free to make copies
of the survey and submit as many request as you wish.
